The plain-language terms for buying and using Egret.

These terms cover your use of Egret, a Grasshopper plugin published by MarshRabbit Robotics ("we," "us"). By installing Egret or buying a licence, you agree to them.

What you are getting

A licence to Egret is a licence to use the software, not a sale of the software itself. Full simulation is free forever. A paid licence lifts the export cap and enables live robot control, as described on the Pricing page.

Your licence

  • Each paid licence is for one named user and may be activated on up to two machines.
  • Licences are billed per year. You may cancel anytime; your installed version keeps working through the end of the paid term.
  • Educational and student licences are granted case by case, for non-commercial learning use.

Personal and Commercial use

Egret's paid licences come in two tiers, and which one you need depends on how you use it:

  • A Personal licence covers personal, hobby, and learning projects, including the occasional incidental sale of something you make with it.
  • A Commercial licence is required for any ongoing business or for-profit use, including production work, paid client work, and use by or on behalf of a company or business.

If you use Egret in the course of running a business or to generate ongoing revenue, you need a Commercial licence, whatever the size of the company. If you are not sure which tier fits, email us and we will help you choose.

What you may not do

  • Share, resell, sublicense, or publish your licence key.
  • Attempt to bypass, disable, or reverse-engineer the licensing or trial system.
  • Use a Personal licence for commercial or for-profit work that requires a Commercial licence.
  • Use Egret for anything unlawful, or in a way that endangers people or property.

Robots are yours to run safely

Egret can command a physical robot. You are solely responsible for operating your hardware safely and lawfully. Egret is not safety-certified and is provided without warranty. Please read the full disclaimer before running any motion.

Independent product

Egret is an independent, third-party tool. It is not made by, affiliated with, or endorsed by uFactory. "uFactory," "xArm," "Lite 6," "Rhino," and "Grasshopper" are trademarks of their respective owners, used only to describe compatibility.

Payments and refunds

Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. See our Refund policy for how refunds work.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MarshRabbit Robotics is not liable for any injury, damage, downtime, lost profits, or indirect or consequential damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, Egret. Your total remedy for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for your licence.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms as Egret evolves; continued use after a change means you accept the current version. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which MarshRabbit Robotics operates. Questions: support@marshrabbitrobotics.com.
